Belt Up employ their distinctive, interactive style of storytelling to captivate and astound in this unique family show. Sit back and enjoy this legend or take an active part in its performance; this is a show that brings playfulness back to the play.
Octavia is an entirely active theatrical experience that does not shy away from challenging a family audience; sometimes funny, sometimes scary; sometimes smile inducing, sometimes heart breaking; always exciting, always magical.

Antigone
byAlexander Wright after Sophocles
From the critically acclaimed Belt Up Theatre following a total sell out run at the Edinburgh Fringe festival comes the reinvention of a classic.
Based on Sophocles’ timeless tale of politics, family feuds and rituals, Alexander Wright’s new adaptation is a melodic portrait of a family in the wake of devastation. Telling the story of Antigone, a princess faced with an impossible decision and the astounding repercussions this has upon her family and more dangerously, the entire country.
In this lamentful re-imagining, audience members are requested to pay their respects to the late princess, Antigone. But this is a dreamlike world; the solemn soiree that the audience find themselves part of shifts and changes. Ghosts of the recent war echo around them, the conscience of Kings stalk between them, and lovers left behind weep alongside them.

Quasimodo
by Jethro Compton after Victor Hugo
“Never have I seen my ugliness as I do now, when I compare myself to youâ€
Straight from sell out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, London’s Southwark Playhouse and The Lowry in Salford Quays, critically acclaimed company Belt Up Theatre bring their re-imagining of an epic story.
Venture deep into the dark heart of the Parisian underworld and witness the blind man open his eyes to gaze upon his wealth, the lame man throw down his cane to dance in celebration of his riches and the leper peel back his bandages to unveil the splendour of his affluence.
In Jethro Compton’s site-specific adaptation of Victor Hugo’s momentous classic, ‘Notre Dame de Paris’, the audience is enticed in to submerge themselves amongst a very special family of villainous figures taunting and goading the poor Quasimodo into telling the story of his life, a life plagued by loneliness and rejection.
